After receiving my Bachelors of Fine Art from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2003, I quickly realized the starving artist lifestyle was not for me. Intent on going back for my masters to teach at a college level, it seemed massage therapy was the perfect line of work to fund my future plans. I enrolled at Blue Heron Academy of Troy in the medical massage program and immediately fell in love with the limitless health benefits and endless applications! From pain relief to athletic recovery, the soothing touch of massage is one of the few things in life that is truly healthy… yet effortless! I realized instantly that this was the career for me and thankfully I found a creative outlet to share all my artistic energy….my daughter.

I began my massage career in April, 2007 by gaining experience in a chiropractic facility followed by a chain massage studio and private spa. In 2010, I was blessed with the opportunity to combine the best qualities of each to create a space for therapeutic massage with the feeling of luxury. As a long distance runner, I enjoy working with athletes of all kinds, knowing first hand the value of massage when it comes to athletic recovery. After a decade of massage experience I value the opportunity to get to know my clients and research specific techniques that will increase their success during sessions.

I chose massage therapy with the goal of helping people, and that intention has undoubtedly  grown over my 8 years of experience. I received a certification in Massage Therapy from Baker College and am now licensed by the State of Michigan. I am not only skilled but also experienced in various massage modalities including swedish, deep tissue, therapeutic, prenatal and sports massage. I enjoy the variety of techniques and the diverse benefits they provide. Along with manual techniques, I utilize hot stones, bamboo fusion, and aromatherapy. In addition to these methods, I recently received a certification in massage cupping. Adding these assets to my ever growing toolbox has allowed me to be even more effective in meeting the needs of my clients!

I am also a certified level-one CrossFit trainer. CrossFit training adds to my expertise as a massage therapist in many ways.  I find the more time I spend at the gym coaching and working out, the more empathetic I become to my massage client’s needs, and the more understanding I am of wanted improvements in specific areas. Proper function of the body to achieve optimal performance is something I’m continually striving to improve personally as well as coaching others to achieve. The knowledge I’ve gained along the way helps me troubleshoot for solutions when it comes to aches and pains that might be related to musculature imbalances. This is quite common for many people; athletes and those with a more sedentary lifestyle alike. Repetitive movements  commonly create imbalances in the body, that over time, cause pain and make the body more susceptible to injury. Understanding these principles better equips me as a therapist and a trainer to meet the needs of my clients. Health and wellness are a priority in my life, so as both a massage therapist and a CrossFit trainer I am driven to constantly learn more about the body’s overall well being and I’m happy to pass this information along to anyone it might help!

This year marks my 21st year as a massage therapist. I am a proud graduate of The Health Enrichment Center in Lapeer, MI.  The skills I obtained while I attended HEC helped me pursue my passion for massage therapy.  I continued with my education process at William Beaumont Hospital taking the Oncology Massage Therapy graduate program.  I have been treating critically ill patients in clinic, physicians’ offices, infusion centers, and in patients within the hospital for the past 11 years.  I have significant knowledge, training, and education in research study programs for Neuropathy in Chemotherapy Patients.  I represented the Integrative Medicine program in Troy Beaumont while working with patients in the Orthopedic and Palliative Care units assisting to find the accuracy of success in pain management with massage therapy.

My position at Beaumont allowed for me to mentor coworkers, supervise therapists, aid in teaching parts of the Graduate program, and making excellent working partnerships with all fields of medicine with in the Beaumont system.

I specialize in treating:  Pediatrics (special needs, MS, Degenerative Brain Disease, Oncology, and Cerebral Palsy).  Oncology massage therapy for all ages, Swedish massage, Prenatal Massage,  Massage Cupping, Neuromuscular Therapy, Lymphatic Massage, Scar Therapy (in particular breast cancer patients), Neuropathy Massage, and Reiki Therapy.

I have the utmost passion for the health and wellbeing of my clients and I’m committed to their long term health as well as their short term relief.

I have recently gone back to school to obtain my Esthetics license and look forward to being able to offer my clients skin care treatments in the near future.

Massage is my second career. After many years in the automotive field and after taking time off to raise a family I decided to repackage myself in a different occupation. I enjoy people and wanted a career where I could be “a bright spot” in people’s lives. I graduated from Healing Hands Holistic Health Center for Massage and am ever pursuing further education. I am licensed through the State of Michigan and Board Certified through NCBTMB. I am certified in warm bamboo-fusion, hot stone therapy and hospital/oncology massage. I am currently working with post-operative patients and those going through their cancer journey.

As of 2017 I bring 3 years of hospital experience with current training in hospital based lymphatic wellness, reiki and medical cupping modalities. Although I am skilled in many types of massage I enjoy giving a decadent, detailed swedish massage involving aromatherapy with essential oils. I am very passionate about client concerns, expectations and the prefession of massage as a whole. I look forward to seeing you!

Since the beginning of my career, I have been passionate about health and healing. As a result, my professional experience has been centered around the healthcare profession. After graduating with a Bachelors of Excercise Science from Oakland University, I went on to join Beaumont Hospitals.

After spending 16 years developing my skills in hospital administration and customer service, I decided I wanted a more hands-on experience in helping patients. From there, I began my path of discovery in Massage Therapy through the Carnegie Institute of Troy where I graduated in the top 10% of my class in 2015.

I absolutely love massage therapy and learning more ways to offer the very best for my clients. Since my certification, I have had the pleasure to work in both a spa and chiropractic environment which has helped me develop a good balance between therapeutic and relaxation techniques covering swedish, deep tissue and prenatal massage. Additionally, I have explored the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy with essential oils and hot stone therapy.

Having an easy going, fun loving spirit has been a great asset in connecting with my clients who are like a second family to me. The greatest reward has been knowing that I can make a difference by helping people.
